London - Some very brief notes

  • was cold and grey most of the time
  • did not feel as big as i thought it would despite its sprawling nature. overall the streets are quite small -- even the main ones -- and there are not really very many highrises
  • it has been hard to make the conversion from a pot drinker to a pint drinking (although i am getting much better at it over here in the czech republic)
  • south africans and australians are a dime a dozen which means you get a two for one deal with me
  • they eat way too much bread. the staple food item seems to be sandwiches which they call sarnies
  • using the tube i felt a lot like a pinball in a pinball machine
  • tv sucks. lots of content but nothing really of quality

there are other things too but they escape me at the moment so will add them if and when they resurface from the dark pool that is the memory.

I didn't think the UK would be your cup of tea entirely, eastern europe has much more your mindset in many ways.

Good review, but why did you go to London? You'll never get to the sun that way...

the road to the sun has never been mapped so there is no telling what route one would take to get there. even if someone did though, it would only be a historical document as the map is different for everyone. for me it would definately take a detour via the czech republic and cesky krumlov.

Outrageous! Look, you can slag off the food (although its a lot better than it was), the streets (no highrises? you ain't been to South London have you), the beer (the lager isn't cold enough, I admit it) or anything else, but how can you possibly think the TV is worse in blighty than downunder? Are you missing '60 minutes' or something? No, it must be 'Today Tonight' withdrawal. All the best TV in Australia is British and most of the rest is American. Oh sorry, Aussies do make their own news (using syndicated news services of course) and there is always Neighbours, Australia's most important cultural export.

Sorry about the rant! RMIT isn't the same without you.
