some news of past arrivals while preparing for a soon departure

just bought the new shpongle cd today. very excited, more music for the road.

when i was driving across germany to switzerland with the family that the car pool agency hooked me up with (a pretty good deal; prague to zuerich for only 33€ where as the bus was double that) i was totally floored by my first glimpse of the alps - even though they were far away, something of that magnitude just did not seem real to the mind.

first stop in switzerland was maybe 30 meters from the border station so that we could buy swiss chocolate.

second stop was at house in the swiss country-side for lemon grass tea and biscuits. when we left there was a girl practicing riding a mono-cycle in the street. the cows in the field seem happy.

third stop zuerich. trams, over priced jumbo pretzels that have nothing on the german ones i was to try a week later in freiburg, and gaint fiberglass teddybears lining the streets.

after a short tram ride, dinner ...
